Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important political figure commented the attack rendered him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
