Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault caused the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
